There are a series of off-road motorcycles in Vietnam that give consumers abundant options to choose from.

The fact shows that recent years in Vietnam have marked the boom of adventure motorbikes. Accordingly, a range of new names have been put on the map, such as BMW R1250 GS Adventure, Yamaha Tenere 700, BMW F850 GS Adventure or Honda CRF250L.

BMW R1250 GS Adventure

BMW R1250 GS Adventure has ruled the UK Sales Charts since its launch in 2014. It is quite popular in the segment of off-road motorcycles in Vietnam. Therefore, the new version of BMW R1250 GS is highly expected.

BMW R1250 GS has two versions: standard and adventure, however, it uses a brand-new engine with better power. The new boxer with Shift Cam produces 136 bhp and 143 Nm of torque.

Equipped with fuel-saving Start/Stop, the new engine can lower up to 4% consumption. BMW R1250 GS is expected to be the most noteworthy adventure bikes that bring a great experience on the off-road routes in Vietnam.  

But in case you you prefer on-road experiences, it is advisable to refer to naked bikes in Vietnam.

Triumph Scrambler 1200

Triumph Scrambler 1200 is a combination of retro style and modernity with a lot of high-end equipment. Launched in October 2018 and put on sale in 2019, Triumph Scrambler 1200 is a direct competitor to Ducati Scrambler 1100.

It comes with two versions: 1200 XC and 1200 XE, both of which have been built on the basis of Street Scrambler. As a dual-sport motorcycle, Scrambler 1200 XC is a stunning modern classic for the road while Scrambler 1200 XE is better used for extreme off-road challenges still, and for Vietnam motorcycle tours, too.

Both versions use the liquid-cooled Bonneville 1200cc engine, with a dedicated “Bobber tune”, 88.7 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. Regarding these numbers, while the former is 38% higher than Scrambler Street 900 cc, the latter is 12.5% higher than Bonneville T120.

KTM 790 Adventure

In the list of top best off-road motorcycles in Vietnam, KTM 79 Adventure cannot be absent. Released in November 2019 at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italia, KTM 790 Adventure is the rival of Yamaha Tenere and the new BMW F850 GS Adventure.

Its power is produced from KTM’s LC8 engine, twin-spark, 799cc, DOHC Parallel-twin, liquid-cooled 95 bhp, 6-speed transmission, and PASC (Power Assist Clutch). KTM confirmed that the 790 Adventure with a 20-liter fuel tank can travel for a distance of 400km.

KTM 790 Adventure has a lightweight tubular CroMo steel frame and promises to be an impressive off-road motorcycle in Vietnam. However, it costs a high price, £11,099 ($14,155).

Yamaha Ténéré 700

After its introduction in the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show, Yamaha Tenere 700 will be put on sale this year. Yamaha Tenere’s sports design is the same as its T7 concept introduced in 2015.

Similar to enduro motorcycles, Yamaha Tenere 700 has spoked wheels with aluminum rims, 21 inches in the front and 18 inches at the rear along with a 16-liter fuel tank. Besides, it’s lighter than other rivals, with a weight of 205 kg.

Yamaha Tenere uses 689cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC parallel twin, and 8-valve engine with the electronic fuel injection. Its maximum power is 72 horsepower and 68 Nm of torque. Designed for those who are 1,85m and higher, so it’s hard for Ténéré 700 to become popular in Vietnam.

Moto Guzzi V85TT

It can be said that V85TT is considered the most charming model of Moto Guzzi for years to come. Getting a secure place in the adventure motorbike segment, Moto Guzzi V85TT is an opponent to BMW F850 GS and Triumph Tiger 800.

The motorbike’s shape is inspired by the world’s famous off-road desert race – Dakar Rally. Its design reflects Moto Guzzi’s tradition and style – a mix of the classic Enduro and modern technology.

Moto Guzzi V85TT produces 80 horsepower. Other specs and price of it have not been officially published.

BMW F850 GS Adventure

Several years ago, the BMW F800 GS was replaced by the F850 GS. But it was until November 2018 that F850 GS Adventure came in public. Advanced for off-road use, the model offers additional front suspension travel and versatility for long-range adventure touring, which is far greater than F850 GS.

BMW F850 GS Adventure has a higher suspension and Pro, Dynamic, Enduro, and Enduro Pro riding modes. It also comes with banking capable ABS Pro and the DTC dynamic traction control. Its 23-liter fuel tank looks sportier than the standard F850 GS.

With the new engine with stronger performance with 95 hp at 8,250 rpm and a torque of 92 Nm at 5,250 rpm, this Enduro is powerful enough to take you wherever you want and conquer any off-road challenge. In terms of power/weight, the motorbike is close to the R1200 GS of the first generation. BMW F850 GS Adventure weighs 224 kg.

Norton Atlas

Norton Atlas was not in mass production in 2019. However, there were still at least 250 motorcycles for each version, which are Atlas Nomad and Atlas Ranger.

Both versions use the same liquid-cooled engine type: 650cc parallel-twin, 83.1 hp, and a torque of 64 Nm. But Norton Atlas Nomad offers better off-road capability at the price of £9,995 ($12,747).

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro has a displacement of 1262 cc with Ducati Testastretta DVT from the cruiser XDiaval model, L-Twin cylinder. As a powerful off-road motorcycle in Vietnam, this enduro can please off-road lovers well.

Compared to the previous generation, this model’s engine has been increased by 64cc, which makes Multistrada 1260 Enduro more powerful. Meanwhile, both Riding Modes and Ride by Wire ensures outstanding safety and smoother throttle control as well as keeps the power delivery under control.

The enduro even comes with Touring, Sport, Urban, and Enduro advance packages. Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro has been on sale since early 2019.

Kawasaki Versys 1000

The 2019 model of Kawasaki Versys 1000 is different in its shape. It is a combination of Ninja 400 and ZX-6R 2019. There are two versions, standard, and SE.

2019 Versys 1000 utilizes the same engine and frame as the old model. It is powered by a liquid-cooled, 16V DOHC, and 4-valve per cylinder. This adventure motorcycle works with a displacement of 1043cc, its maximum power is 120 hp at 9000 rpm while the maximum torque of 102 Nm at 7500 rpm.

All the versions kitted out with Ride by Wire function while the SE gets a modern suite of electronic aids with an IMU feeding essential information, ABS, traction control, and quick-shifting.
